Originally built in 1907, the spectacular Art Nouveau facade will lead you to the Hermitage Hotel Prague - an imposing yet elegant building from the last century with high ceilings and large picture widows, upgraded recently to a contemporary four star hotel, offering a wide variety of room types, bar, restaurant, meeting facilities and fitness centre.
The former Union printing house was completed in 1907, as can be seen by the dates on the gables. In its building process, unprecedented and completely new at the time, reinforced concrete structures were used, the exterior facades in Art Nouveau style were adorned with distinctive floral motifs and symbols associated with printing. Mainly quality image prints and art publications were printed here and after 1918, the first Czechoslovak stamps. The printing house operation was finally wound down in 2005.
